Fate gramps7/31/2023 ![]() You can go into a banner with over a thousand SQ, and although it's statistically improbable not to roll a rateup 5 star, it's not impossible. The average player will not see a single Unregistered Spirit Origin (after playing a bit on JP, I'm two Nightless Caster spooks from seeing my first). ![]() What makes FGO's gacha so brutal is the lack of any feasible safety net. This is the opposite of GBF, where rateup may as well not exist, although the base rates are actually high. Further, while the rate to pull a 5 star is low, the rate-up is pretty high, meaning that you are more like to get your target when you hit that 1% chance. 1% for a 5 star hero is low, but somewhat average out of all gachas out there. The gacha is the elephant in the room, but not for the reason most commonly referred to. Grinding in GBF feels really quick, and that's something I hope FGO takes strides toward. One thing I really like about GBF is that it allows you to get right back into a node after completing it. Upon clearing the node, we go through several level-up screens before facing another screen that leads us to the event menu, where we repeat the process. When you start up a node, we have to battle an uncooperative friend system in order to find the right support with the right CE, and after that boss fight, there's a pretty long loading screen before we get into the action. Long answer: Starting with the negatives first, for a game that is pretty grind-y, FGO is pretty damn slow. ![]() Although there is a bit of hit/miss, DW does a lot to differentiate events, even those of the same format, adding a bit of mystery and excitement as to what new events will be like. Quick-ish answer: put aside some questionable optimization and an unforgiving gacha, FGO has one of the most enjoyable stories and an interesting cast of characters, including OCs, to make it stand out as its own entity, rather than one that rides on the coattails of previous entries to the Fate series. Surpassed my initial expectations in every aspectįGO is a good game that has an honest share of flaws, much like pretty much any gacha out there. This makes for a more enjoyable gacha experience. This openness is refreshing among gacha games because I never feel obligated to spend on keeping up with the latest meta units and can save my quartz for characters I actually like. How many people rolled him for his gameplay? And how many rolled him because of his story role and the Gramps comics? FGO realized this was the biggest appeal of their game and delivered. It’s fun to see Ozy and Gil matching huge egos, Tesla and Edison arguing, Jeanne sister shenanigans, etc. From a story and gameplay perspective, Servants feel enjoyable to own and use, either due to dialogue, unique mechanics, or story motivations. The event stories are also incredibly fun.įrom a conceptual standpoint FGO realizes that the concept of portraying historical and fictional characters with fun personalities and interacting together is just an inherently entertaining idea for a game, and delivered upon that. Story wise the main story started out confusing, but gradually straightened out and became legitimately enjoyable as it went on. That also gives me freedom for gacha because I never felt that any Servant was a must have gameplay wise (yes even Merlin) With the except of Challenge Quests, I’ve never felt that any content was impossibly tough, and even if I did I had the Command Seals to bail me out. This also keeps things accessible for players of all skill and whaling levels. This means that a low rarity Servant you raised previously still retains their usefulness as time goes on, and your effort never feels wasted. From a gameplay standpoint, it ensures that none of the SSRs are ever essential to clearing content, nor are any of them supremely broken (cept Merlin), nor is there blatant powercreep. I would say ultimately yes, it is a good game. ![]() Not a Fate fan here who got roped into the game by a friend. ![]() Lore Sunday for any and all lore discussions.Įrror message compilation with translation Who Would Win Wednesday for all power level discussion and what-if scenarios.įriend Request Hub for all friend requests.įree-Talk Friday for chatting about anything. >!Spoiler!< for spoiler tagging text: SpoilerĪchievement Monday for all achievements, including bond CE. ![]()
